Learning with Video at the Scottish Learning Festival
Employment Enterprise are an Employability Skills provider, delivering a wide range of programmes on behalf of a number of Local Authorities. In March 2013 they were approached by South Lanarkshire Council to support their presentation to the Scottish Learning Festival at the SECC in September 2013. This was to give audiences an introduction to their contract to deliver the Youth Jobs Fund, an innovative and successful programme for 16-17years olds.
Employment Enterprise turned to Enterprise Screen to act as video production agent for a large scale Keynote presentation which would incorporate the following elements:
 Keynote slide display
Video Production: 2 sequences detailing the work and impact of Youth Jobs Fund in South Lanarkshire. Once giving an enhanced narrative from the perspective of a young person, the other highlighting the impact on employers and the local business community.
Motion Graphics Video: a series of animated infographics aimed at highlighting the growth of the programme and the impact on employment in South Lanarkshire.
Enterprise Screen commissioned a number of planning meetings with senior staff at EEC and produced a production plan detailing steps at each point in delivery. This was an important part of the development of this complex project- our clients (both Employment Enterprise and South Lanarkshire Council) were keen to ensure the video for the presentations managed to convey all of the qualities of the project. It was also important to keep them informed of progress and planning as they have been, quite naturally, very focused on their upcoming presentation.
We worked very closely with senior staff to ensure their messages came through clear and simple and that key points where adequately highlighted.
"The videos produced were of extremely high quality and were the result of several drafts and production meetings. Enterprise Screen staff were very patient and exceeded our expectations with the quality of the final product."
"The presentation to the Learning Festival took place in front of a large audience on 26 September and we are delighted with the responses. Our knowledge of the project and our ability to showcase our experience, the clients experience and the impact of the project has really impressed our audience. Many of them have spoken to us about our presentation with a sense of awe! This was fantastic for us but ultimately, the best response was that people will remember our presentation. Many thanks for all the help." Adam Dunkerley, Programme Manager
The content for these videos combined interview, voice over narrative as well as some illustrative visuals to tie the audience to the unique story presented by this ambitious but successful project. The films are creative, emotional but also straightforward and have high impact. We are delighted that our client has found the process to be rewarding and that the films continue to create an impact with a wide audience.
You can view the videos soon- they are due to be published by our client and we will link them directly to this article.
