The 10 week programme, funded by South Lanarkshire Council and Lanarkshire ADP is designed for 16-19 year olds that have been affected by substance misuse and will support and mentor them to enhance their skills in a range of key areas. Sessions will utilise Console Games, Social Networking and online communications- enhancing twitter, facebook, blogging and other systems with content produced by the participants. The networking and online presence will be developed by participants to bring them closer to progressing towards a positive outcome and this will be supported and enhanced with mentoring, a work placement further trainingand aftercare.
"NetWorks is a 10 week project designed to test their gaming, social networking and communication skills to the limit. Mini-competitions, tournaments and challenges will combine with fantastic training with new and existing technology. This project is going to be fun, rewarding and challenging and will take the switched-on generation into an opportunity to be plugged-in to the world of opportunity." Michael Thomas, Project Co-ordinator
Throughout the course participants will have the chance to go head-to-head with their peers- in person and online in a range of challenges, games and tasks that will allow them to develop new skills.
