Movie Magic for Charity Video Scotland

Housing Options Scotland Corporate Video promo uses magician Kevin McMahon to get their message across.

As part of our ongoing partnership with the newly rebranded Housing Options Scotland (formerly Ownership Options), Enterprise Screen have delivered both case studies and interviews as well as a creative and memorable promotional film.

The challenge was to help them demonstrate that with their funding, Housing Options Scotland save the Scottish taxpayer 10-times their investment. A simple ratio of 10-1 was the recurring theme when we researched the work they do (not forgetting helping their clients find the right home!) and with the charity celebrating their 15th Anniversary this November, we wanted to ensure there was some sparkle and entertainment to their video.

Housing Options Scotland works with disabled people to help them "find the right house, in the right place".

"Our main aim is to ensure that disabled people have access to suitable housing in the tenure of their choice. Recognising that gaining access to owner-occupation remains problematic, we continue to pioneer new approaches to funding and facilitating the home buying process. We have now diversified our activities to take into account the new economic climate and can advice on social and private renting, as well as home ownership."

When considering the brief, staff at Enterprise Screen were consistently amazed at the 10-1 figure-it was a logical step to conclude it was magic! Every pound of funding that Housing Options Scotland receives, directly saves 10 of public money- based on research from 2009.

Enlisting the help of well-established, Scottish magician, Kevin McMahon was the first idea out of the box. Kevin had made his name with an unlikely route to professional status: appearing on C4s hugely successful Faking It tv show, he trained with some of the worlds most renowned magical acts that included Penn and Teller and Bob Carolgees (maybe we imagined Bob)!

Kevin brought more than simple tricks- he was engaged in the process and did his best to make the tricks and magic fit the message. The magic is now back at the Enterprise Screen base with post-production pushing to have the film ready in the next week.
